You wouldn’t believe the options you have nowadays for cabinets. You can have cabinets for holding your bakeware, your holiday plates, baseboard cabinets, silverware cabinets, it goes on and on the different types of storage options you have.

Next, your look can change DRASTICALLY. You can go rustic, modern, vintage… whatever you like, because with the right design you can make them pop.

Popular and unique cabinet styles are shaker style, louvered (yes, believe it or not), flat, inset, beadboard, thermofoil (very popular in Europe) and of course, custom.

Plus, if you’re not up for new cabinets, you can refinish your cabinets or put veneers on your old ones. There are multiple options to fit your budget.

Once this is decided upon, counter tops would be next.

Are you thinking about a full slab? Granite? Quartz? Concrete? How porous would you like it? Low maintenance? Again, you have a lot of options to work with here. Since you’ll be working on them day in and day out, this is a good place to let your personality come through on the look you’d like to achieve. A solid stone countertop is a great way to bring your home up to date.

Then there are appliances and fixtures.

Nothing says a “chefs kitchen” like a nice set of stainless steel appliances. There’s something about the look that is just expected in “new” and high-end homes, and you can achieve that look easily. You don’t have to break the bank either as they are now very commonplace.

Fixtures on the other hand, especially lighting, is where the theme of your work can really come together and could take up a lot of time deciding which way to go.

You can get lost in lighting options, so try to narrow it down to the type of light (incandescent, LED, track, etc.) and work with your remodeler to find a complimentary design to your cabinets because it’s these two items that will work with your colors and create your new look.
